Text Formatting

After logging in, navigate to the webpage you want to edit, select the edit tab to access the edit overlay window.

The following section of the toolbar is used to format text as bold, italic, underline, strike-through, subscript, superscript, or to remove text formatting.  These buttons are the standard buttons used throughout most software to format text.  Standard keyboard shortcut commands work as well.

Highlight the section of the text that you want to format.  Then, click the appropriate text formatting button on the toolbar.

To remove text formatting, highlight the section where you want to remove the text formatting.  Then, click the appropriate text formatting button on the toolbar.

Be familiar with web accessibility guidelines when using these text formatting functions.

NOTE: Bold should not be used to define content headings.  To comply with web accessibility guidelines, styles should be used to outline webpage content.  See the webpage styles article and/or the web accessibility article. Also avoid underlining text since underlined text on webpages implies a link.  This could be confusing for visitors.
