What is an anchor Tag?

An anchor tag allows you to create hyperlinks that navigate to a specific point within a page. This differs from a standard hyperlink, in that standard links only navigate to new pages.

How do you create an anchor tag?

To create an anchor tag :

  1. Set your cursor to the area you would like your site visitor to be taken to.
  2. Click on the anchor icon (it looks like a flag) to insert a new anchor. This flag will not actually be visible to your sites visitors.
  3. Give the new anchor element a name. This name will be used in your hyperlink.
  4. To edit the name of your anchor tag double click on the flag icon.

How do you link to the anchor tag?

  1. Select the text or image you would like to add the hyperlink to.
  2. Click on the hyperlink button.
  3. Add your link and append the link with “#AnchorName”
