The Apple, Google, Samsung Structural Balance is changing
With the likelihood that Apple will release a new iPhone in a few weeks, this article mentions that Apple does not only face competition with Androids and companies like Samsung and Google, but also with its own devices. Since many consumers already have iPhones with plenty of capabilities, this can cause a difference in the income that Apple will expect this year. This changes the graph from being balanced, to a new structure, with Apple against itself.
This article is an example of positive and negative relationships. The relationship triangle among Apple, Google, and Samsung is a balanced (+, -, -) structure. The graph is no longer balanced; however once the negative relationship with Apple and itself is added. The relationship, Apple-Samsung-Apple is an unbalanced (-, -, -) structure, so the overall relationship is unbalanced. This imbalance could lead to new Apple forming new positive “relationships” with other companies to address this source of dissonance.
