LoveGame(Theory)
Arguably the most important thing on peoples mind’s is love and sex. Whether it is people wanting sex due to a lack of it or just someone seeking a life long partner, romance is one of humanity’s biggest preoccupations. People regularly complain about how they do not understand how love or the opposite gender works. However, an app by the name of Kahnoodle claims that game theory can help make more sense of the entire phenomenon. The app uses the process of gamification to apparently make matching couples be easier for the individuals and to be able to manage their progress. Psychologist Eli Finkel of Northwestern University defends this view. According to Finkel, “Much of the benefit of doing considerate things is linked to the fact that those things required thoughtfulness and effort. Take the thoughtfulness out of the acts and they lose much of their meaning.”
How love fits into game theory is relatively simple: if a male pursues for a long time, then it indicates to the female that the male could potentially be a good mate; if a female waits for a long time, a better mate than a mate she would have had if she had not waited as long as she did will pursue her in time. Basically, it is a simple game theory situation which obviously relates to the class. If you are a male, then your best bet is to pursue for a longer time and if you are a female, then your best is to wait for a longer time. Of course there is much more to love than this principle, but it does make sense given how heterosexual relationships intuitively work.
