Broadband network aims to connect all of Kentucky
In Kentucky, their governor is attempting to construct a 3,000 mile fiber optic cables that will connect all of the hundreds of counties in the state. The state is known to have one of the slowest internet connections as a whole and the gov is aiming to fix that by 2018. It will be an expensive project but will end up being extremely beneficial to all the residents who once could not get high speed internet even if they tried due to the lack of internet technology in the areas. There are also certain rural areas where companies such as Time Warner Cable will not provide service for, and was also motivation for the governor to take action. Some of the farmers in the area who have already been seeing the improvements made in their area, by selling more crops to people because their internet is faster and more proficient. This project will improve the well being for the entire state and increase production for all the people.
This kind of project requires a lot of thinking and planning. This 3,000 mile cords of fibers will not be easy to install but will take a lot of mapping out. Like mentioned, their are 100’s of counties in Kentucky so to build this type of project requires drawing out maps and figuring out where the cable will go and which counties to build in first in order to gain the best internet for the countries. The planning that this project would entail would frustrate a contractor but with proper planning an drawing of webs between cities, we can see what would be the most efficient way to link these thousands of people across the internet. This project would be extremely beneficial for all the residents of Kentucky especially the ones in the rural areas who couldn’t connect over the internet previously before. This project will be a feat for the government and may pose other states to look into building their own fiber optic cables to help better internet connection since our world so heavy depends on it.
