Google? More Like R.I.P.-PageRank-Google

After learning about Page Ranks, I was curious as to how Google was implementing page ranks into their search engines. As a result, it seems that the page rank system for Google will soon be disappearing. For Google (and like for many search engines), how it works is the pages will appear by their page ranks, with the highest one being the first link, the second highest rank being the second web page link to appear etc. But this led to some interesting situations for Google. As the word got out about how web pages appear for Google, web pages began to buy a higher page rank to get that precious first link position.

Because of this there was a toolbar that was able to display the page rank of the web page the user wanted to know. For many years, this was available for the public in order for anybody to increase their page rank. However, recently Google announced that the toolbar will come to an end and will be removed. This is interesting since the toolbar gave the user the ability to know how their website compares to other similar websites. With the toolbar removal, a certain power for the users was removed. This demonstrates the power that a page rank can have to a user and how their business (websites) strive accordingly.
