SEO with Google Posts

What Google’s experimental content podium means for SEO

This article discusses a new feature from Google, referred to as “Google Posts.” Google Posts is a new content platform designed to host images, videos, and information from verified users and organizations. Publishers on this platform can effectively post material that appears in the search engine results separately as with advertisements. Although it is not a social network, Google Posts contains a social media “sharing” feature that provides utility to users looking to extend their reach beyond traditional paid ads.

The SEO implications for Google search users are huge if this platform is fully integrated and released  beyond experimental tests. This new feature may actually cannibalize paid ad clicks and true content clicks, however, from a content creator, user, or company perspective, this may be a cheaper way to increase the page rank of favorable and valuable information.

This new concept changes how we think of hubs and authorities in the context of Google search results as the line is blurred between the two. Are users and companies now their own authorities and social media networks the link hubs?
