Research Interests
Agroecosystems represent a fascinating interface between ecology and managed human systems. I am interested in the ways various management practices direct or constrain ecological interactions between weeds, crops, and soil biota, with an emphasis on applying insights to the design of less extractive and input-intensive cropping systems.

Research with the lab
Organic management systems require extra attention be paid to the mitigation of yield loss through weed competition. During my time with the lab, I worked with data from the long-term Organic Cropping Systems experiment to explore how several organic management systems impacted the diversity and traits of the weed community. Separately, I worked on optimizing organic no-till systems that hold promise for maintaining crop yields without herbicides or tillage.
