A New Year, A New You

Many of us use the start of a new year to set goals or make a resolution. According to a 2023 Forbes Health Survey, some of the most common resolutions fall into one of these categories: to improve mental health, to improve physical health, or to improve finances. Regardless of your resolution or goal, it can be helpful to do some pre-planning to increase your chances of success.

  1. Determine your larger, long-term goal.
  2. Ask yourself why you want to achieve this goal.
  3. Break your long-term goal into smaller, more manageable tasks or short-term goals.
  4. Be sure your goals are SMART.
    • Specific
    • Measurable
    • Action-oriented
    • Realistic and Relevant
    • Time-bound
  1. Ask yourself who you can count on for support in achieving your goal.
  2. Write your goals down and review them periodically to be sure you are still on task.
