This article discusses how the onset of advertising online has destroyed journalism. Advertising as corrupted the way individuals receive information. Money no longer supports journalism but is now captured by Google and Facebook. As a result, money is used to support the spread of fake news. The only way to save the free press is to pay for Journalism directly, rather than through Google and Facebook. This will be done by eliminating advertising on their platforms and putting the money directly into journalism.
This article relates to our discussion of Page Rank. The argument of this article is based on the fact that websites can pay to be seen by consumers. This can be d0ne through advertisements or paying Google to appear higher in the page rank. This means that page rank is corrupted. We learned in class that page rank was determined by the quality and number of links a site has. This means consumers are getting access to worse quality information. This is referenced in the article people, then receive fake news.
