Local blacksmith/metal artist Durand Van Doren and his crew installed new gates in Minns Garden May 14. The ‘Applegate Arch’ features seven famous apples (Garden of Eden, Newton’s, an apple for the teacher, The Big Apple, William Tell’s apple, Sleeping Beauty’s poisonous apple, and Johnny Appledseed’s apple), as well as buds, flowers, roots and leaves rendered in metal. The opening celebration and reception is scheduled for May 15 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
