Phenotyping flower and inflorescence properties

Phenotyping segregating population for genomic study

Graduate Student Zach Stansell, here with Cornell Horticulture Graduate Field Secretary Bridget Cristelli, in a collection of >200 double-haploid F2 progeny from a cross that segregates for many traits of interest for broccoli quality. By associating the phenotypes with the genotype at ~30,000 polymorphic loci, determined by sequencing, Zach will identify markers of value in selecting improved broccoli types.
