The National Weather Service downgraded Laura to a tropical depression that will bring one to three inches of rain to southeastern Missouri and western Kentucky through tonight. Mid-Atlantic states will see 1-3 inches of rain over the weekend.

Catastrophic damage from Hurricane Laura expected along the Gulf Coast
The National Hurricane Center issued a warning at 5PM EST of catastrophic damage from 20 ft storm surges along the Gulf Coast as much as 40 miles inland. US States within the NEWA area will also be impacted in coming days.

NEWA and Climate Smart Farming to host USDA webinar May 4
NEWA will be partnering with the Cornell Climate Smart Farming Program on May 4th at 2:00 PM to present a webinar hosted by the USDA Northeast Climate Hub. This free event is open to growers, extension, researchers, government employees and any one else interested in learning about NEWA/CSF online resources. Dan Olmstead (NEWA Coordinator) and Jonathan Lambert (Program Manager, CSF) will provide respective overviews of each program, describe key online tools, and take questions from webinar participants.
