The National Weather Service downgraded Laura to a tropical depression that will bring one to three inches of rain to southeastern Missouri and western Kentucky through tonight. Mid-Atlantic states will see 1-3 inches of rain over the weekend.

Catastrophic damage from Hurricane Laura expected along the Gulf Coast
The National Hurricane Center issued a warning at 5PM EST of catastrophic damage from 20 ft storm surges along the Gulf Coast as much as 40 miles inland. US States within the NEWA area will also be impacted in coming days.

July sets all-time heat records across NEWA
July was a record-breaking month for NEWA member states. Locations throughout New England, the northeast, mid-Atlantic, Midwest, and Western US broke or tied daily maximum temperature records that had been in place for over 100 years in some regions, according to the NOAA National Centers for Environmental information.
