This article describes the recent problems Google has had to deal with. To firstly understand what the issue is, one must first understand what a Google Bomb is. A Google bomb is when a web page is ranked higher because artificially linking it to a phrase that is put into Google’s web search. This was first an issue in 2003 when the phrase miserable failure was linked to President George Washington. Google tried to fix this issue with the their search algorithm but was proved unsuccessful in 2007 once again.
In class we discussed how the page rank system affects how certain web pages show up for certain phrases and filters out irrelevant websites. I think that these people who are purposely creating these false links must be attacking the links between hubs and authorities. If I were working for Google I would suggest to increase their protection against hyperlinks. These hyperlinks add links between themselves and authorities which is cause Google this problem.
