Vinay Bhaskar, PhD candidate in the Graduate Field of Horticulture (Bellinder Lab) received a $14,940 grant from the USDA’s Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education program’s Northeast Region to support his project Cover crop and weed management in interseeded cover crop plus reduced-rate herbicide system in wide-row vegetables.
Two other students in the School of Integrative Plant Science also received SARE grants:
- Adrienne Gorny, (Field of Plant Pathology and Plant-Microbe Biology, Pethybridge Lab) for Reducing pesticide use in vegetable production by calculating soil-borne disease risk.
- Lisa Kissing Kucek, (Field of Plant Breeding, Sorrells Lab) for Participatory breeding of high-value wheat for the Northeast.
