If you missed Fred Cowett’s department seminar on Modeling Street Trees on a Statewide Basis in New York State on Monday, it’s available online:
Abstract: Street trees are an integral component of livable, healthy communities providing ecosystem benefits and social and aesthetic amenities. New York State officials need better statewide information to plan and manage this resource on a statewide basis. Therefore, street tree inventory data was collected throughout New York State and a model developed from this data to estimate numbers of prevalent street tree species and genera, calculate annual benefits provided by street trees, and identify trends in the state’s street tree population. Methods were employed that can be replicated by other states.
