Classes are approximately one hour and occur throughout August. Instructors can also request individual training to help get their course sites set up in time for classes to start! Please register here.

LabArchives
This web-based electronic lab notebook software allows faculty, researchers, TAs and students to store, organize, share and publish laboratory data.   In this session, participants will learn how to create and share notebooks, as well as to add and organize content.  There will also be discussion about setting up LabArchives in a classroom environment.

Getting Started with Blackboard: for New Blackboard Users
Blackboard is an online tool that lets you deliver course materials, collect assignments, administer online quizzes and much more.  In this hands-on session you will learn how to navigate around Blackboard, add course materials and organize content.

Blackboard: Assessments and Grade Center
Prerequisite: One semester or more experience using Blackboard OR completion of “Getting Started with Blackboard” session.

In this class, we will explore some of Blackboard’s more advanced features including quizzes, grading and organizing your grade center.  NOTE: Participants who wish to use class time to build (or add to) their actual Fall 2016 course(s) should complete the following task prior to class: Navigate to http://bbhelp.cit.cornell.edu/course-site-creation/ and follow the directions to create at least one Blackboard coursesite using the Faculty Center.

Turnitin
Turnitin is plagiarism detection software that scans student work for matched text by comparing the work to a large database of student work, publications, and materials on the Internet.  Sessions will cover: creating a Turnitin assignment,  viewing student work in Turnitin, and grading a Turnitin assignment.  Prior experience with Blackboard OR completion of “Getting Started with Blackboard” is recommended.

i>clicker: Classroom Polling
Classroom Polling allows instructors to quickly ask a question and instantly receive responses from each student during class.  In this session, participants will learn how to use the i>clicker program and connect to their Blackboard course for student roster access.  This working session is for instructors new to i>clicker as well as those who have previously used i>clicker and are looking to set up their course again.  The latest version of i>clicker will be provided, along with the hardware needed to bring to the classroom to collect student clicker responses.  There will be time for questions and answers during these sessions.

Web Conferencing in the Classroom
Cornell hosts several tools that can provides on-demand collaborative web meetings and conferencing.  Faculty and staff can use web conferencing tools to hold class online, present webinars, and provide online office hours. Other features include: sharing your desktop, PowerPoints presentations, videos, images, voice streaming, webcam, chat, whiteboard, and the ability to share recordings.

Classroom Technologies
This training aims to give the Cornell community a broad awareness of classroom technologies that may be in use around campus. We will demonstrate general hardware and software tools and discuss topics such as wireless presentation via Mersive Solstice or tablet computers, remote lectures made possible by web conferencing tools, app sharing with students, ways to use technology to increase audience engagement, remote collaboration, and A/V touch panels in classrooms.

Flipping the Class with Panopto
Recording class lectures with Panopto and posting them in your Blackboard course allows students to revisit core concepts repeatedly outside of class, while opening up space in your course for conversations and activities that enrich learning objectives. Recorded lectures can be used across several sections or semesters. Learn how Panopto works and get ideas for effective implementation at this hands-on workshop!
