Information on available technology for most classrooms in Cornell’s undergraduate colleges is described in the Learning Technologies Room Types document. Instructors who are interested in learning more about the newest classroom technologies are encouraged to contact Academic Technologies. However, classroom technology support is provided by individual colleges.
Instructors please note: not every classroom on campus has sufficient wireless network capacity to handle activities such as mobile polling, where a large number of class participants will be using their mobile device on the network at the same time. If you are planning an activity that requires significant wireless capability in a classroom, please contact Academic Technologies for support.
Recording and Lecture Capture
Many classrooms are outfitted so that lectures and other classroom activities can be recorded using Cornell’s lecture capture services. If a room is not lecture capture-ready, contact Academic Technologies for ideas on how to record your lecture or special event.
Videoconferencing
Classrooms designated as Type 3 are outfitted for videoconferencing and/or distance learning. Contact the appropriate system administrator to book a system/facility for distance learning, research collaboration, remote meetings, etc.
Academic Technologies staff are available to assist instructors who are interested in using Zoom or Skype for videoconferencing with remote locations or for bringing a guest speaker into the classroom.
Computer Labs for Instruction
The Academic Technologies Group also provides computer labs for the Cornell community. Users can access academic and research-related resources, including software, network resources such as file servers and web sites, and specific hardware in selected labs. Presentation Technology
Academic Technologies consultants are available to help instructors who are interested in using presentation technologies such as:
- Annotation devices (e.g. tablets)
- Document cameras
- Interactive projectors
- Wireless projection of mobile devices
