This article points out the reason why there have been so many sexual harassment scandals recently with the rise of technology. This is directly related to the new ease for victims and reporters to complain about sexual harassment and abuses. The ability to have information spread so quickly is one of the largest reasons why so much more news has been cast on sexual harassment scandals. Along with the large media coverage, the rest of technology is empowering these victims to come together as a whole in order to fight back.
The quick speed at which groups of people and isolated victims are coming together is the result of information cascading and the new increased speed of the spread of information between individuals in society. Now these information cascades are able to overturn the structures that have been in power because these groups of individuals that would not have taken action without knowing that they would have other people alongside them have banded together and created large movements in society and the media.
