Facebook and the growth of social media.

Social networking is going deep into the lives of people. It can be said that this is the latest model in the process of contemporary development, simplifying the modes of interaction and connection between people throughout the length of history. According to the researchers, although recently launched when the full convergence of basic platform conditions, but actually “ancestors” of social networking has been around for a long time. The start of the era of unrestricted connectivity today is in the 70s. In 1971, the first e-mail was sent between two computers … side by side with a brief message consisting of a top-left sequence of letters on the current QWERTYUIOP keyboard.

Next, in 1978, two important events took place. BBS data communication system long distance telephone operation. In addition, early-stage browsers began to “spread” everywhere through Usenet, one of the first BBS platforms. However, 20 years later, the Internet began to form the first social network. Pioneering the first social networking journey in nearly 20 years before being forgotten is the Geocites.

In 1994, Geocities was established. Users can create and develop personal addresses and websites here. Yahoo acquired Geocities and turned the page into a familiar Yahoo user. However, due to backward technology and lack of flexibility in the development strategy, Geocities was forced to shut down not long ago, giving way to Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter or MySpace.

One year after the Geocites came out, the second most noticeable social network in the period was Theblobe.com. Websites allow users the opportunity to experience and publish content of their own accord and easily interact with friends who share similar interests. However, TheGlobe quickly plummeted dramatically due to the lack of local conditions. In just 3 years, this social network has “lost” nearly all of the $ 850 million, obtained from the first share issue, still $ 4 million. Currently, TheGlobe just left a simple home page. At the same time, the AOL Instant Messenger app also comes out, while Sixdegrees.com also appears, allowing users to create profiles and add friends to the list.

Nearly 10 years ago, the popular social networking website Friendster appeared. This is considered a pioneer name that supports online connectivity and sharing between live relatives. Friendster is based on the users themselves and has up to 3 million participants after the first three months of its launch. An average of 126 Internet users is present. However, just one year later, MySpace’s copy came out and quickly attracted Internet users. The first version of MySpace was only designed in exactly 10 days.

The two fastest growing social networks are present relatively late. In 2004, Facebook launched. This was originally intended for college students to connect and share. Immediately after its birth at Harvard University, Facebook had 19,500 students enrolled in the first month. Today’s people are tied to social networking models. Two years later, Twitter also came out, marking a milestone in the evolution of social networking.

At the time of 2008, every second Twitter user posted 3,283 messages. This is also the year Facebook surpassed MySpace to become the world’s number one social network. Both became more popular than the predecessor Friendster. Facebook now has the fastest growth rate, with the largest number of users, about 600 million, while both Friendster and Myspace are showing signs of slowing down. Twitter is downplaying Facebook, but has also overtaken Friendster and is continuing to conquer Myspace.
