Google Vs. Bing Advertising
The articles I have linked explain the benefits and drawbacks of Google advertising versus advertising with Bing. A commonly known fact is that Googling is an automatic response for most people when they need to look anything up. This leads to Google being an extremely highly trafficked webspace. This leads to their Pay Per Click advertisements being more expensive and create a more competitive bidding market for keywords relating to your product. This may not be the best way to go with your advertising because it might be too expensive for you to make much of a return on investment. Essentially, as we talked about it in class, if your value per click is not much higher than what you are paying for your click.
This leads to the question, Why not take my advertising to Bing. Bing, which has merged with Yahoo! advertisement creates a great opportunity for some businesses that may not want to spend as much on advertisements that ads on Google command. While Google is outstanding for advertising due to its Adwords system, some of its costumers are prevented from getting the best slots due to being outbid. For those customers being outbid, it would likely be better to get more prime adspace on Bing.
In addition to the previous factors, Bing gives all customers who spend more than $500 the ability to speak with a real account representative, whereas Google only does that for customers that spend over $500,000, otherwise they give you outsourced help.
There really is no universally right answer to the question Bing or Google, but with the merger of Yahoo! and Bing the market for advertising has a different outlook. Where you want to place your ads all depends on your budget and where you think you will get the best return on investment.
