Adriana presents at SACNAS 2021 National Diversity in STEM Conference

The Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) held their annual meeting from October 25-29 in a virtual format for the second year in a row. Despite not being able to attend the conference in person, there were many opportunities to meet mentors, get feedback on research and career paths, and build community among undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, faculty, and administrators.

Adriana has attended the annual conference and presented her dissertation research in the form of oral or poster presentations since 2019. She has also been appointed by the Cornell Graduate School and CALS to recruit undergraduate students into graduate programs. This year, Adriana presented on her ongoing work aimed at identifying candidate genes responsible for local climatic adaptation in Calochortus venustus.

An image of Adriana’s poster titled “Loci under selection? A case study in a hypervariable California endemic lily, Calochortus venustus”. The poster outlines an introduction to the research questions, a three-pronged integrative approach, and preliminary results.
