Checking In

This semester has definitely been rough with online classes and I know that personally am struggling with motivation. I was not looking forward to online classes back home after semi finals, and this table talk made me feel like I wasn’t the only one. With the way my classes are set up and because of the pandemic, I do not have much interaction with people outside my major and college, so it was also interesting to hear about how other classes are handling the hybrid/online situation. The way our classes are being held right now is not ideal, but I am grateful that I can personally learn and interact with others because it could be worse.

  1. I definitely agree! It’s been hard not having as much interaction with others as we do in a normal semester. It was nice talking with each other and realizing that I am not alone 🙂

  2. I’m glad that you were able to find some comfort in this Table Talk. I’m sorry to hear about how this semester has been; it’s definitely very challenging to keep up with online schoolwork while social distancing. I also have been struggling with motivation this semester, but one thing that helps me is the 5 minute rule. If you force yourself to work on something for just 5 minutes, you naturally fall into a workflow, and it makes it easier to do work for an extended period of time. I hope we can both finish the semester strong!

  3. You are definitely not alone; I’ve found this semester challenging as well, especially with finding the motivation to do all of the busywork. Without the social interaction, it’s really hard to separate work from relaxing, so the Rose Scholar program helps with providing events to do such.
