Snapchat is “inherently viral” where people can immediately take a picture of whatever and share the snap with there friends. The creator of Snapchat Evan Spiegel, his initial target user where college and high school students who have a tight-knit community where students would closely interact with friends and peers. As more students use Snapchat, the spread goes fast where peers would urge you to download this excellent app. The Snapchat team are incredibly good at understanding the market fit product that will fulfill user needs by having features of quick uploads of pictures and videos.
This article ties back to our discussion of network diffusion, where people are more likely to adopt a new technology when someone is connected to specific groups of people. In this case, high school and college students are under an environment of a tight-knit community where students would want to match their friends and eventually adopt their friend’s behavior. Thus, as Snapchat spread within high schools, slowly, diffusion of innovation would affect how students adopt and use new technology because their friends are using Snapchat.
