This article goes into detail about the competition Hallmark channel and Lifetime is facing from streaming services like Netflix, Disney plus and apple inc in the holiday movie genre. The Wall Street Journal describes how “Marathons of schmaltzy titles like “A Cookie Cutter Christmas” and “Four Christmases and a Wedding” have become a successful annual tradition for Hallmark Channel and Lifetime”. Yet, streaming services like Netflix, Disney plus and apple inc are rolling out new holiday movies in order to gain more viewers and subscribers. Netflix, for example, saw that “The Christmas Chronicles” attracted 20 million viewers its first week, the company’s content chief, Ted Sarandos, told a conference last December.

I think the efforts that Disney plus have made to make themselves more marketable and appealing apply to our class because Disney is using strategies like product launches and coordinated marketing. Disney Plus is offering its services at the starting price of $6.99 a month or for $12.99 a month which includes Hulu and ESPN. Disney already has millions of fans, therefore, these techniques will only persuade more people to subscribe to their new streaming website and allow them to break into even more clusters.
