Both Trump and Clinton camps abused big data to influence the public opinion. This phenomenon in which data is manipulated is not limited to just the election; event like this is happening right now as we are reading this post. Companies are developing and updating their AI-based algorithms in order to get rid of fake news from the top of their pages.

Facebook’s current strategy for handling this issue involves the use of a system called the Page Rank, which is also commonly used by websites such as Google to accurately display relevant websites and stories. Before diving into the individual companies’ algorithms for handling fake news, it is significant to comprehend the concept of what PageRank is.

PageRank is the dominant system in which a page is ranked higher if cited by other important pages. Thus, this mode of endorsement forms the basis for the PageRank measure. Google is one of the leading companies which combats fake news by using a system like this one. Its PageRank algorithm ranks the search results based on pages that are linked to in publications.
