Face to Face

There has been a rise of remote workers in the last few years. For example, some companies let their employees work from home on Fridays. This seems like a desirable situation; the employee gets the leisure of working from home, and the employer gets to please their employees while remaining productive. However, top companies are terminating these programs to get workers back in the office.

IBM is one of the companies that has done this. Most of the tasks done by the employees are collaborative, and need strong relationships to be effective. Working remotely is better for individual tasks, but the relationships they form with people are weak because they lack the face to face interaction. Sure, people can see each other on their screens, but innovation is not done over a video call.  Top companies are bringing employees back into the workplace so they can strengthen relationships and work better collaboratively.
