The L. Sanford and Jo Mills Reis Professor of Humanities at Cornell University, Paul Fleming is a member of the Departments of German Studies and of Comparative Literature. He is the author of Exemplarity and Mediocrity (2009) and The Pleasures of Abandonment (2006). He edited several collective volumes, and translated Peter Szondy or Hans Blumenberg into English. He served as the Taylor Director of the Society for the Humanities at Cornell, from 2017 to 2024.

In relation to the Humanities Lab, Fleming was the co-leader of the AI and Humanities faculty group and is a member of the Editorial committee of Mechanema.
