Tips for Takeout Amid COVID

Many restaurants are now opened up for takeout options. Ordering food may be tempting if you want to refresh your taste buds. While the CDC has found no evidence linking COVID spread to takeout food or food packaging, it is natural to worry about food safety when ordering out. Here are some tips on how to handle food safely and maintain proper hygiene when ordering meal delivery.

Wash your hands

Based on current understanding, food is unlikely to be the vehicle for virus transmission. However, virus droplets can remain on the food packages. If you touch the package and then touch your nose or mouth, you could be at risk for infection. Thus, it’s important to wash your hand with soapy water for at least twenty seconds before handling or consuming any food delivered to you.

Handle Food with Care

Wash your hands before taking out the food from the packages and putting it on your own plate. Wash your hands again before enjoying your food.

Also, remember to sanitize your counter where the container or cardboard was placed.
