If you are a busy parent with young children, you may find it hard to give your children nutritious snacks on the go. Smoothies are a refreshing alternative! Smoothies are an easy way to add fruits and vegetables into your children’s diets. Not only are smoothies nutritious, but they are also fun to make! Combining different fruits and vegetables can get your children involved in choosing vegetable and fruit combinations.
Here are two of my favorite smoothie recipes to make:
Berry Smoothie
- 1 cup of milk (skim, low fat, almond, soy, etc)
- 1 banana, sliced and frozen
- ½ cup of strawberries
- ½ cup of blueberries
- Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth (~1 min)
- Serve and enjoy!
Green Smoothie
- 1 cup of milk (skim, low fat, almond, soy, etc)
- 1 banana, sliced and frozen
- ½ cup of strawberries
- 1 cup of spinach or kale
- Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth (~1 min)
- Serve and enjoy!
Invite your kids into the kitchen and even have them come up with their own smoothie creations!
