What to Do With the Roots

Okay so you’ve met the root vegetables. Now what to do? Let’s start with storage. Keep them in a cool, dark, and humid room – perhaps your pantry or in the basement. If you decide to stick your root vegetables in the fridge, be sure to put them in a paper or plastic bag so they stay crisp.

Are we ready to cook yet, because I’m getting hungry? You can find some lovely recipes – a hearty main dish with sweet potatoes,  a sizzling side with  regular potatoes and even a special dessert with carrots! Keep in mind that there a lot of simple ways to prepare root vegetables that don’t eat up all your time – so you and your kids can still eat up all your vegetables.

WAYS TO PREPARE

Toss them with some oil, salt & pepper.

Throw them in the oven.

Make your own fries or chips.

Boil them in a pot of water, until they are nice and soft.

Make your own mash.

Slice them. Dice them.

Eat them raw, in a salad, or with some dip.
