We also reached sustained trap catch in Niagara county this week.
1 male and 5 female SWD were trapped in a cherry orchard with ripe fruit. 1 female SWD was trapped in a blueberry planting with ripe and ripening fruits. All were trapped in drowning jar traps.

This week we reached first trap catch in Franklin county, with both male and female spotted wing drosophila caught in drowning jar traps in both a raspberry and a blueberry planting. Both plantings had ripe and ripening fruits.
We also reached sustained trap catch in St. Lawrence county, with both male and female spotted wing drosophila trapped in drowning jar traps set in raspberry and blueberry plantings, all with ripe and ripening fruits.

We have reached first trap catch in St. Lawrence county last Thursday July 13th.
7 female SWD were trapped in a raspberry planting, where all fruits were still green.
2 male SWD were trapped in a raspberry planting, where fruits were either ripe or ripening.
1 female SWD was trapped in a blueberry planting, where fruits were ripe or ripening.

We have reached sustained trap catch today in both Wayne and Ontario counties.
In Wayne county, 7 male SWD were trapped on a sticky trap and 2 male and 40 female SWD in a drowning jar trap.
In Ontario county, 10 male SWD were trapped on a sticky trap and 2 male and 55 female SWD in a drowning jar trap.
Both traps were set in ripe blueberry plantings.

We have (finally) reached first trap catch in Niagara county, with 1 male and 11 females trapped in a cherry orchard and 1 male and 3 females trapped in a blueberry planting. We are now at first trap catch in all of the counties in the monitoring network.
We also reached sustained trap catch in Orleans county today with SWD trapped in each of a cherry, black raspberry, and blueberry planting.
We are now at sustained trap catch in all the eastern NY counties.
We reached sustained catch in Clinton county on July 11th, with 7 males and 2 females trapped in drowning jar traps and 3 males trapped on sticky traps.
We also reached sustained catch in Saratoga County on July 12th in a blueberry planting, with 14 males and 5 females trapped in drowning jar traps and 4 males and 2 females trapped on sticky traps.
Western New York counties have begun to catch SWD but are not yet at sustained trap catch.
We have trapped the first SWD in Ontario county today, with fairly high initial numbers: in total 4 male and 9 females trapped in drowning jar traps and in total 10 males trapped on sticky cards.

Females SWD were trapped in drowning traps at two different locations within the county this past week: one was trapped in ripe raspberries at first harvest stage, while two swd were trapped in a blackberry planting just beginning to show color.
