“The Presidential Life Science Fellowship (PLSF) promotes broad and integrative inquiry by providing a novel platform for first year graduate students to launch an integrated system for research and education that brings together the fields of organismal biology, molecular biology, computational sciences, physical sciences/engineering, and social sciences into a common and highly interactive network. The PLSF provides both recipients and faculty mentors the opportunity to pursue interdisciplinary research objectives throughout the colleges and units across campus.”
Incoming PhD student Clarice Guan was awarded a 2018 PLSF, funding her first year of the graduate program in Plant Biology (SIPS) and enabling her to form an independent research project that takes full advantage of the multidisciplinary and collaborative nature of Cornell’s campus. In addition, she’ll interact with other PLSF students and faculty to form a network of mentors and collaborators, enabling her to transcend disciplinary boundaries and develop skills as a leader in research and education. Congratulations, Clarice!
