This training cannot be missed, made up, or sacrificed due to conflicts with other commitments. Inability to attend the training sessions will result in the forfeiture of the position.

WHAT DOES THE APPLICATION PROCESS LOOK LIKE?

After submitting an application, qualified candidates will be sent a request to complete an interview sometime in March 2024. Decisions are typically sent less than one month after interview taking place.

I AM NOT A STUDENT AT CORNELL UNIVERSITY. CAN I STILL WORK FOR CORNELL PSSP?

Yes! The Residence Director positions are open to anyone.

DO I NEED TO SUBMIT A RESUME?

Resumes are optional for the Resident Advisor positions. There is an optional upload in the application, but no preference is given to candidates who do or do not upload a resume.

Resumes are required for the Resident Director positions.

DO I NEED TO HAVE EXPERIENCE AS A RESIDENT ADVISOR TO BE HIRED?

No! We are looking for motivated, customer service oriented candidates who can work as a part of a team and share our commitment to social justice. If that sounds like you, apply!

WHEN IS THE DEADLINE TO APPLY FOR A SEASONAL POSITION?

We hire on a rolling basis–meaning the sooner you apply, the better your chances are of being hired. We will accept applications and continue our interview processes until positions fill. Applications for Summer 2024 will close in mid-May at the latest.

WHEN WILL I KNOW IF I HAVE BEEN HIRED FOR THE 2024 SEASON?

We hire seasonal staff on a rolling basis. Typically, you will find out if you have been selected to work for the PSSP team within one month of completing interview process.

WHAT DOES TRAINING LOOK LIKE FOR THESE POSITIONS?

PSSP staff will be brought to campus for training starting June 10, 2024. Once here, you will meet your direct supervisor and the peers on your team. Training will include interactive sessions on community development and engagement, mentorship, crisis management and program administration.

WHERE WILL I LIVE ON CAMPUS?

All PSSP staff will be housed in Toni Morrison Hall for the 2024 summer program. Staff will have a single room and access to a staff-only bathroom facility. Housing assignments are made based on student needs and we are unable to accommodate staff preference.

Staff can apply for a housing accommodation to ensure that their residential space reasonably meets their needs through the Cornell Student Disability Services office.

CAN I HAVE ANOTHER JOB OR TAKE A CLASS DURING THE SUMMER?

PSSP staff can have up to 10 hours of outside commitments or take one summer session course. Staff members MUST obtain permission from the Assistant Director of Summer Programs in Conference and Event Services for any outside commitment or coursework prior to the start of the commitment/course. Outside commitments cannot conflict with any essential function listed in the job description.

I AM AN INTERNATIONAL APPLICANT. CAN I STILL WORK FOR CORNELL PSSP?

Candidates must have the legal right to work in the United States, or attend an institution in the United States that can sponsor their visa for the summer. Unfortunately, PSSP is unable to sponsor visas at this time.
