Stop the Invasion!
It’s New York’s Invasive Species Awareness Week!
Sunday, June 6 through Saturday, June 12, 2021
Invasive species are defined as species that are both:
-
- non-native (or alien) to the ecosystem under consideration, and
-
- whose introduction causes or is likely to cause economic or environmental harm or harm to human health.
There are lots of ways to get involved this week including:
-
- A statewide public webinar series at 1pm and 7pm each day
-
- Online and in-person events for each region of the state
-
- Activities for the whole family including an invasive species scavenger hunt, coloring book, curriculum, and online training opportunities
Follow us on Facebook this week as we learn about some of the common invasive species in our area!
