Page links for Search Engines

The internet has invariably become a crucial element for any type of research for any individual. When in need of an answer, the first place most people think to search is now the internet, not an encyclopedia or someone in their personal network that would have the answer. With the accessibility of information online, many individuals choose to use the internet instead of a medical professional to get medical advice. As such, medical researchers at the University of Missouri decided to test the reliability of the results that surface on the four most popular search engines: Google, Yahoo!, Bing, and Ask.com. They checked for the amount of results that overlapped between the searches, the amount of faulty links provided, the type of information each search engine decided to emphasize to the user, and the most useful system in gaining access to the necessary results.

They ultimately discovered that Google had the most useful links, in terms of those that could be opened, and that the overlap between the search results for all the websites was about half or greater. The researchers did notice, however, that each search engine decided to emphasize different types of results over others, so that the answer to the medical question an individual would be searching for might be different based on where you decide to search. The researchers decided that Bing had the most useful search engine in terms of customer satisfaction, but still recommended using multiple search engines to come to a medical conclusion.https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3799567/
