Using Social Media To Stop The New Spread Of HIV/AIDS

This article discusses the importance of continuing to use social media to spread the awareness of HIV/Aids since the problem is still increasingly growing at a steady rate. Monday Dec. 1 was HIV/AIDS awareness day and social media did its best to connect others as it always has done. There was hashtags that were started in order to make the connecting of people easier than ever.

Using social media to connect people is an important topic. Especially in our class, influencing others to change their beliefs in some way is key to understanding how networks work. The article also asks us to use our social media platform of choice to make a post or increase awareness in someway. If one person posts about HIV/AIDS on their page, the people that person is friends with is immediately affected. For one, they have now read and taken in some information about it. Also they can click the hashtag and be immediately connected into  a new portal of concerned people. Lastly, as we have seen in class, if one sees more of his/her friends posting about something on social media, they are much more likely to follow suit and also post something. We are directly influenced by what others are doing/ thinking in today’s day and age, especially with social media.
