Google AdWords’ Location Targeting

Google unveiled its new feature of AdWords, connecting Google Maps to its service in order to target customers based on location using more accurate geographical information. This new aspect will allow their clients to further focus on particular areas, marketing their ads for top-performance, as well as a slew of easy-to-use options to help you discover potential target locations.  Google boasts this addition will provide “higher quality leads at a lower cost.”

In essence, this new feature increases the value per click of the client and the click-through rate. The value per click will increase because the company can target particular areas that they want customers to be from, whether because they want to highlight a certain geographical demographic or that area has been particularly high-performing in the past. The click-through rate will most likely grow as well because the companies are choosing regions where they think their advertisements will succeed and garner attention.

With the addition of Google Maps to the many features of AdWords, the total value of an ad spot would be unilaterally increased with this new system because of the higher values per click and click through rates. This will increase Google’s ability to sell the slots as well as the amount companies will be willing to pay for them.

The location you target determines the type of people you are marketing to. This is something that many people do not take into consideration, and need to!
