Relax with Bedtime Tea

After a day of stressful work, you may feel physically tired, but unable to relax your mind. During the pandemic, sleep disturbances have become more common due to increases in uncertainties, anxiety, and fear. Without restful sleep, you may feel sluggish the next morning and struggle to concentrate. A cup of warm and aromatic tea may alleviate the feelings of anxiety away and prepare you for a wonderful night of sleep. It is important to select a tea that is caffeine free with zero or small amounts of sugar because this can keep you awake.

Chamomile is one of the most ancient medicinal herbs and is well known for its relaxation effects. It contains flavonoid, which is a substance that can calm down our nervous system and support a restful sleep. Chamomile contains other health benefits, including boosting your immune system to fight infections, improving your digestive health, and protecting your cardiovascular systems.

Chamomile tea can be prepared by infusing the tea bag or dry chamomile flowers in boiling water. If you want something creative for your night routine, a hot honey chamomile latte might be worth trying. This drink contains zero caffeine and may help to soothe you before sleep.

Lavender is another type of flower that can boost mood and reduce anxiety. Similar to chamomile, there is a certain substance in lavender that can produce calming effects. Lavender can soothe digestive issues, including diarrhea, vomiting, and cramping. The smell of lavender is naturally aromatic and favored by many people.
