Herbs for the win!

We know that adding spices adds flavor to food, but there is another way to improve a dish: HERBS!

Herbs are plants with savory properties that help with adding flavor to food and adding more visual appeal. Along with what they do with food, they also have health benefits.

Just like spices, they help you cut back on less healthy ingredients like salt, sugar, and added fat because of the flavors they bring to food.

Here are some herbs that would be great to add to your diet and support your health:

  • Rosemary: This herb has a strong smell. This would be great with any meat or vegetable dish. It pairs really well with salmon (insert link to fish post)
  • Basil: This can be added to almost anything like omelettes, soups, meats, and salads.
  • Mint: This has a very fresh smell and is usually added to drinks like tea or other beverages. It is known to help with digestive troubles like nausea.
  • Oregano: This is usually found in Italian dishes and other savory foods.

Thyme: This can go into baked dishes and soups like (https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/the-ultimate-chicken-noodle-soup/). It is often used in French cuisine.

This is a dish you can try and it uses basil as a key ingredient!

Herbs, like spices, are great to add flavor and added health benefits to your food. Herbs tend to be power antioxidants, which prevent cell damage. Most of these can be bought fresh as well but they also are found dried to last longer in your household. If you have a green thumb, herbs can easily be grown inside and outside.
