Question: Can you provide some background on yourself?
Answer: My name is Ingrid Oravetz and I have been the Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) for Washoe County Regional Animal Services for the last 20 years. I began my animal path at the SPCA in San Francisco in the 90’s and had the opportunity to meet Maddie. I then moved to Reno, Nevada in 2001. I always knew I wanted to work with animals from a young age.
Question: What drew you to shelter medicine and your passion for animals?
Shelter medicine always interested me, due to having the ability to actually help an animal, whether finding a home or any medical needs. The shelter always provided for the ones most in need. We never had to reject an animal in need because of a lack of money. Shelters will always find a way to save a life.
Question: What interested you to attend the 2022 ASPCA Cornell Maddie’s® Shelter Medicine Conference?
I wanted to attend the shelter medicine conference because the people and information I would learn could assist with my position. I was very thankful and appreciative to have received a scholarship through Maddie’s® Fund . It benefited my arrival to the conference.
Question: Additional thoughts?
Every speaker, doctor and vet tech that spoke at the conference was very knowledgeable and informative. It was a pleasure .
Again, I would like to say thank you for the opportunity.
**Ingrid Oravetz is a scholarship winner via Maddie’s® Fund and was also a textbook raffle winner at the conference!
