Mykki Blanco feat. Jean Deaux – “Loner”

I wanted to choose an artist that added to the conversation of gender that we have been seeing in The Pagoda, which led me to an artist I really admire, Mykki Blanco.  Throughout his career, he has had an active conversation about his personal identity, pronouns, and sexuality, from identifying transwoman to feminine cis gay male and so on.  The song is about the universal feeling of not being good enough. It depicts people masturbating in groups to VR porn to portray loneliness.  This reminded me of Mr. Lowe’s desire for Miss Sylvie that he keeps to himself, in his thoughts, where it is safe.  He forces himself into this lonely state, unable to reach for his desires.
