Cornell faculty, students, and staff can use the Microsoft Teams client app. The functionality available through the app, chat and meetings, is largely the same as Skype for Business.
Chat with your colleagues, host video/audio meetings, and create teams and channels to collaborate on projects.
Christi and I have been upgrading staff to the latest version of Microsoft Office, which includes the Teams app, during our PC health checkups.
If you are interested in using Teams, and do not have it installed yet, please e-mail wsbnit@cornell.edu to schedule a time for the upgrade.
The PC health checkup and upgrade process typically takes anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes, depending on internet speed.

- Upcoming Online Training – May 18, 2021: Get Into Microsoft Teams
In this live Microsoft-led session exclusively for Cornell, you’ll see how to get started with Microsoft Teams. By attending, you can learn how Teams can help you and those you work with come together to get work done, all in one place. This introductory course will show the fundamentals to navigate Teams, get your team up and running, and start having conversations. The training will be on May 18, 2021, from 1 to 2pm. Microsoft will end Skype for Business service on July 31, 2021. Individuals still using Skype for Business don’t need to stop using it yet, but should start reviewing options for what they and their contacts would like to use instead. Microsoft encourages switching to Microsoft Teams. A direct mailing to individuals who have had any activity in Skype for Business in the past month will be sent Tuesday, May 4, 2021, informing them of the situation and suggesting options.
