Troubleshooting Tips

With an exponential increase of people working and taking online classes from home, network bandwidth is going to be a growing concern.

If you start experiencing dropped connections during your Zoom meeting, here are some troubleshooting tips:

  • Move closer to your Wi-Fi routerhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UygPcBCFRrA
The closer you are to your Wi-Fi router, the better the signal and the better the connection.
  • Plug in! If your laptop is running off battery, it will run slower.  Plug in the power cable to speed things up.
This is true not only for Zoom, but anything you are working on.
  • Restrict usage of the internet by other household members, when possible
Are the kids streaming Disney Plus while you are trying to connect?
  • Don’t enable video in Zoom, where possible
Turning the video/webcam on significantly increases the amount of network bandwidth that is required.
It’s recommended web conference etiquette to turn on your video, but when network issues are a problem, it’s time to turn it off.
