Update Your Adobe Software

Adobe has released important security updates for Adobe Acrobat, Reader and Photoshop.  Please be sure to update your Adobe software as soon as possible.

CCE staff:  I will also be pushing out an Adobe Flash update today, so in the next day or so you will see that installing when you turn on your computer.

Update Adobe Acrobat & Reader:

  • Open Adobe Acrobat/Reader
  • In the top menu, click on Help and then in the drop down list, click on Check for Updates
  • The software will search for any new updates and prompt you to click Download and Install, if any are found.
    • You may be prompted to close Acrobat.  If so, close it and then click Retry in the pop up box.
  • Click Install, when prompted.
  • Click Yes, if prompted by User Account Control.

Update Adobe Creative Cloud (if Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and/or Premier is installed on your computer):

  • Open the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite
    • You may need to log in with your Adobe ID (This is NOT your Cornell NetID/password)
  • If there are any updates to the Adobe Creative Cloud software, they will start automatically.
    • These updates may take up to 10 minutes.
  • Once Creative Cloud is open, click on Apps
    • FYI – The Apps window will show you all the creative cloud software currently installed, as well as other software available through the suite.
      • If the software is installed on your computer and needs updating, it will show “Update” next to it.  If the software is installed and up to date, it will show “Open” next to it.
      • If the software is NOT installed, it will say “Install”.  Do not click Install next to any software program that you do not wish to have installed on your computer.
    • Above the listing of apps, on the right, there is a blue link “Update All”.  Click on this link to begin updating the software you currently have installed (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)
      • It may take anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes for each software program to update.

If you need any assistance and/or prompted for administrative credentials to install the update, please reach out to your local IT person or e-mail wsbnit@cornell.edu.
