Amanda Hakes (alh226@cornell.edu) updates what appears on the rotation personnel listing via CVM database, and for any other items please contact ESS (vet-ess@cornell.edu).

All Other CVM Courses – Course faculty with assistance from department admins in some cases.  If you need help and don’t know who to ask please contact ESS (vet-ess@cornell.edu)

When do faculty have access to canvas sites?

Courses for the upcoming semester are created in Canvas shortly after the pre-enrollment period ends. All instructors of record and admin assistants associated with class in Faculty Center are added to the courses immediately on creation.

When do students have access to canvas sites?

You may publish a course site as soon as you are ready to give students access. We recommend doing this a week before your class is scheduled to start.

Each semester we set our CVM “term start date”, the earliest possible day students will be allowed to view Canvas sites for that semester, to be at least one week prior to the first class.

Tip: Students will only be able to see content within your site that is published.  This means you’ll need to publish individual pages or modules as well as the full course site.  For detailed instructions look here.

DVM Specific Info:

DVM Foundation and Distribution Courses: as soon as you (faculty) are happy with the course site you can publish the site.

DVM Clinical Rotations: ESS and the Foundation Course Administrative Assistant in charge of Block VI will coordinate moving content forward and setting up your canvas site each semester.  ESS will publish sites one week prior to the start of each new term. Look for an email with details.

I need some help with Canvas, who can I ask?

CVM faculty and staff are encouraged to email Educational Support Services as your first stop for canvas questions. (vet-ess@cornell.edu)
