Open SlideOpenSlide is a new web application for viewing slides.  Open to all Vet students and faculty, OpenSlide can be used in place of Aperio SlideViewer, and works on any browser, tablet or smartphone, even with slow Internet links.  Instructors can organize collections of slides for a course, bookmarking interesting features and allowing quick access to a particular magnification and location on a slide.  Students can start and organize their own collections of bookmarks as well.   We’ll talk about using OpenSlide and get your ideas for how to improve and extend it.

Assessment of Clinical Reasoning

 

Clinical reasoning may seem like a black box that’s rooted in pattern recognition, experience, and personal factors, but in fact it can be reliably and validly assessed. We will discuss the Key Features approach to assessing clinical reasoning. Through this discussion, we will also offer ways to more directly teach clinical reasoning to students.
