Comprehensive Final and Clinical Rotation Evaluation Basics

Comprehensive Final Evaluation

  • The Comprehensive Final Evaluation is automatically generated for every VTMED course.
  • The evaluation includes a set of questions about the overall course as well as a core set of questions for each Primary Instructor in the course. It is the responsibility of the primary instructor or the designated department administrative assistant to add any additional faculty who may have taught in the course. The list of faculty to be evaluated for the current year is distributed each fall to the departments.

Timing of Evaluations

  • By default, the Comprehensive Final Evaluation is set to launch one week before the end-of-course and close three days after the end-of-course. The end-of-course date is maintained by the registrar as part of the meta-data associated with the course.
  • In order to adhere to the double-blind policy for final grades and evaluations, the close-date for the evaluation is set at three days after the end-of-course. However, faculty may extend this date on the “Change An Existing Evaluation” screen after answering “yes” to this prompt:

Note: by default responses to this evaluation will be available to faculty AFTER all grades have been submitted and uploaded into our college database – usually three to five days after the end of the course. Are you sure you wish to allow faculty to view responses before grades are submitted?

Customizing Evaluations

  • Course Managers may add faculty sections or add questions to the Comprehensive Evaluation.
  • Course managers may add interim evaluations, either by copying existing evaluations or by creating their own.
  • Course Managers may also add faculty viewers.
    • Be default course instructors may view their own faculty section and the general course section, but not other faculty sections. Adding a faculty viewer on the evaluation’s faculty page gives individuals the ability to view all sections of the evaluation. Additionally, department chairpersons and their administrative staff may view all evaluation within their own department. For more information about viewing authorizations, see below.

Clinical Rotation Evaluations

Timing Evaluations

  • Standard clinical rotation evaluations become available to students four days prior to the end of the 2 week rotation and available for one week. Students select from a list of instructors, residents, and interns that they worked with on the rotation. The evaluation displays a core course section, a section for each instructor, resident, and intern that they worked with, and a staff/technician section.
