SUMMARY
On behalf of the newly formed Graduate Student Council (GSC), I would like to share meeting notes (attached) from the first general meeting held on September 20, 2017. As a reminder, the GSC is comprised of students representing each of the five fields within SIPS. The primary purpose of the council is to create an inclusive and communicative community among the SIPS sections, as well as facilitate communication between graduate students and SIPS faculty/administration. I have attached the GSC constitution, mission/vision statements, and communication model for your reference.
During last week’s meeting, a new GSC board was elected:
- President: Julia Miller
- Secretary: Hannah Swegarden
- Non-Voting Representative to Graduate Fields Council (GFC): Dustin Wilkerson
We are currently in the process of establishing a private e-mail account and Google Drive Folder, through which we will be communicating in the future. The council intends to meet approximately twice per semester, and these meetings are open to any members of the SIPS community. We welcome the submission of agenda items through either your GSA representative on the Council or the soon-to-be established e-mail account.
We certainly hope that you find this organization to be both a resource and an opportunity connect graduate student voices across the SIPS community.
